Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information GeoVue collects, how it is used, how Paddle payment information is handled, and what choices and rights may apply.

1. Information we collect

Account and contact information

We may collect your name, organisation, username, email address, password or password-derived authentication data, account status, support messages, device/account linking information and other information you provide when creating or managing an account.

Project, survey and processing information

We may collect survey names, project names, coordinates, KML/GPX/GVD/GVR/WAV files, audio recordings, sensor readings, GPS/location data, point numbers, processing depths, filter settings, processing requests, processed outputs, generated reports, AI prompts and AI responses.

Device, browser and usage information

We may collect device type, browser type, operating system, approximate network information, logs, error reports, service-worker/cache status, feature usage, security events and metadata needed to diagnose and secure the Services.

Payment and billing information

When purchases are made through Paddle, Paddle collects and processes payment details, billing address, tax/VAT details, transaction identifiers, invoices, receipts and refund or dispute records. GeoVue may receive limited transaction, entitlement, credit-balance, customer and fulfilment information from Paddle, but we do not need to store full card details.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

  • create, authenticate, maintain and secure accounts;
  • operate mapping, recording, import, export, project-storage and offline-capability features;
  • process Data, deduct or manage processing credits, generate outputs and reports, and provide support;
  • provide AI or automated discussion features when requested;
  • send operational messages, receipts, account notices, security notices and support responses;
  • diagnose errors, prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorised access, and improve reliability;
  • comply with legal, tax, accounting, regulatory, payment-network and dispute obligations;
  • develop, test and improve GeoVue products, algorithms and services.

Depending on your location, our legal bases may include performance of a contract, legitimate interests, consent, compliance with legal obligations and protection of rights. If you are in a jurisdiction with privacy rights such as the EU, UK, Switzerland, New Zealand or similar regimes, you may have additional rights described below.

GeoVue is based in New Zealand and may process information in New Zealand and other countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have privacy laws that differ from your home jurisdiction.

4. Sharing and service providers

We may share information with service providers and processors that help us operate hosting, storage, cloud processing, AI features, authentication, email, logging, analytics, support, security and payment fulfilment. We require service providers to use information only for authorised purposes, subject to appropriate safeguards.

We may also share information where required by law, to protect GeoVue, users, Paddle, payment networks or third parties, to investigate security or fraud concerns, in connection with a business transfer, or with your consent.

5. Paddle payments and merchant-of-record processing

Paddle may act as merchant of record, authorised reseller and payment processor for eligible purchases. Paddle’s own buyer terms and privacy notices govern Paddle’s collection and processing of payment, tax, invoice, refund, chargeback and compliance information.

GeoVue may receive from Paddle information needed to fulfil purchases, manage access, reconcile payments, provide support, handle refunds or disputes, and comply with legal obligations.

6. Free Processing and product improvement

If you select Free Processing, you grant GeoVue broad rights to use the submitted Data and derivatives for product development, research, training, benchmarking, quality assurance, commercialisation and service improvement, as described in the Terms of Use. Do not use Free Processing for confidential, regulated, personal or third-party data unless you have authority to grant these rights.

7. Local storage, device permissions and offline features

GeoVue may use browser storage, local databases, cache storage, service workers and similar technologies to keep projects, preferences, login state, offline assets and app data on your device. Clearing browser data, using private browsing, changing devices or deleting local projects may permanently remove locally stored information.

Recording and mapping features may request microphone, audio-device and location permissions. You can manage these permissions through your browser or operating system. Some features may not work if permissions are denied.

8. Retention

We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, maintain accounts, comply with legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, maintain backups and improve the Services. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information, the feature used, legal requirements and whether the Data is stored locally or on GeoVue systems.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent, or review of certain automated decisions. You may also have a right to complain to a privacy regulator.

To exercise rights, contact info@geovue.net. We may need to verify your identity and may refuse or limit requests where permitted by law, including where data is needed for legal, security, payment, fraud-prevention, contractual or legitimate business purposes.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect information. No internet, cloud, device, browser-storage or AI system can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your devices, account credentials, exported files and local project backups.

11. Children

The Services are intended for professional and business use and are not directed to children. Do not use the Services if you are not legally able to enter into a binding agreement.

12. Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will apply when posted or otherwise made available. Material changes may be notified through the app, website or email where appropriate.
